IFFIm’s Board of Directors gathered in London on 7 March to discuss how it will support Gavi and broaden its impact in 2024.

At the meeting, the board discussed the upcoming Gavi replenishment and the positioning and role of IFFIm as part of the replenishment. As Gavi develops its 6.0 strategy, the Board is working closely with the Secretariat and World Bank to ensure IFFIm continues to be a valuable tool for funding Gavi programmes.

During the meeting, the board reappointed Hassatou N’Sele and Ingrid van Wees to second terms. Both will serve for three years through 2027.

The Secretariat provided an update on innovative applications for IFFIm including the EIB Letter of Credit that will enhance Gavi’s market shaping capabilities and the Contingent Financing Mechanism. The next IFFIm Board meeting will take place 3-4 June in Geneva. This timing will allow board members to observe the Gavi Board meeting that will follow the same week where new CEO Dr Sania Nishtar will be welcomed.
